For an able law graduate, sky is the limit ! In the English legal profession, legal practitioners are either barristers or solicitors. In Bangladesh lawyers are known as advocates but those with English professional qualifications can certainly expect to start their legal career on a better note. LLB of London, Northumbria and Wolverhampton Universities are qualifying law degrees, i.e. giving the graduate with appropriate marks to proceed to the English Bar Vocational Course (BVC) in one of the designated institutions in the UK. There is also a career in the Judiciary in Bangladesh for those intending to take the BCS examinations. For each intake of the Judges of the High Court Division, nearly half the number come from the Bar. Some lawyers rely heavily in chamber practice. Given the fact that more foreign entities are coming to the local market, value of an in-house lawyer with English legal background need not be overstated. Law graduates also work in multinationals, banks, financial institutions and insurance companies.
